Mother's Day Gift Ideas From Local Small Businesses
Mother’s Day is going to look a little different this year for everyone. It might not be as simple as making dinner reservations and picking up some flowers at a corner store right now, but it can still be loaded with meaning.
Supporting local businesses is always something that is important to me. With COVID-19 and the uncertainty that looms for us entrepreneurs, supporting a small business doesn’t just cause a happy dance, but is a boost of motivation and hope!
I’ve put together a few no-contact gift ideas by local entrepreneurs! Not only will these gifts create that soulful feeling for the business owners, but the unique and personal touch is also a beautiful way to say Happy Mother’s Day.
Pink Pamplemousse Floral Studio
Flowers are a staple! Whether it’s for Mother’s Day, a birthday or just to let someone know you’re thinking about them, flowers will easily brighten someone’s day. Aneta designs beautifully curated arrangements and has been offering both no-contact pickup and delivery throughout COVID-19. Mother’s Day is no exception!
Floral Bouquets
If you’re following me on insta you’d have seen the bright coloured bouquet she put together for me last week. Colours I wouldn’t have chosen myself that came together so perfectly and exuded springtime happiness.
Floral Cones
A new and fun way to present flowers (because presentation makes all the difference, right?!)
The flowers are tied with a lovely ribbon inside the cone so they can easily be transferred to a vase of choice. This is a limited edition option with only a handful of availability!
White Cones • classy and elegant!
Black Cones • trendy and edgier!
Floral Workshops
Aneta hosts intimate, informative and immersive floral workshops that are a perfect creative bonding time for pretty much any occasion. Beginners are welcome!! I was lucky enough to partake in her Spring edition prior to social distancing and left with a full heart of happiness. HIGHLY recommend.
While she can’t host a workshop right now, she IS offering gift certificates for her Fall Edition. It might not be a gift-in-hand present for Mother’s Day but is a perfect way to gift some ‘together time’ to look forward to. You can even add it onto a cone of flowers!
Cones • $50 per cone
Bouquets • Starting at $75
Workshop • $85 per person
Delivery • Complimentary in West Toronto (Etobicoke, Mississauga & Oakville)
Pick-Up • From her studio in Mississauga

Under The Stairs Paper Co.
Cards are definitely another staple! And this boutique card company has a few Mother’s Day options to choose from that can be delivered straight to you! No need to leave the house to stand in line at a Shoppers or Walmart just for a card… This is a great option to keep everyone home, safe AND support a small business!
What I love most about their cards is the neutral design. They are direct, to the point, with love, emotion or a bit of humour.
The blank canvas even allows you to get personal or creative if that’s your style! Maybe you’re looking for a creative outlet and have markers from when colouring books were trending? (Mom’s still love personalized gifts when their kids are adults, right???)
This company also sells baby “thank you” cards with non-toxic paint to use for a hand print or a foot print. If you have or can find some non-toxic paint, this is an adorable option for cards from the kids!
Price • $6 per card / custom options start at $8
Shipping • Varies based on order size. My last order for 4 cards was $1.50!

Not Even Coffee Roasters
Homemade bread, livestream yoga, zoom games and buying a ton of plants. Self-isolation has seen its rotating trends… and fancy delicious coffee is one I can get behind! Drive thru habits are stunted and we’re left at home with the coffee machines we usually pass up for our $6 lattes. Is there a better time to explore and understand what local roasters have to offer?? I don’t think so!
A perfect cup of coffee is a morning ritual, a mid day requirement or an afternoon treat. It’s what’s getting a lot of us through WFH or just BEING home all the time. It’s the perfect pairing to that (brief) moment of solitude sitting on the porch in the sun.
The gift of locally roasted coffee beans says “I love you” and “I’m thinking about you” now more than ever! For any occasion really.
Not Even Coffee Roasters have a variety of delivery or pick up options to make it easy for you to give the gift of happiness in a cup! Also, their branding is perfectly on point for how all of us feel in self-isolation… when we could ALL use that added energy boost (multiple times a day…).
Price • $17-19 per 250g bag of coffee beans / 1000g options available!
Delivery • Wednesdays & Saturdays in Toronto for $5
Pick-Up • Tuesdays 12-4pm at their Roastery near the airport (or by appointment)

Roxanne's Soy Candles
I’m candle obsessed. And it’s not so easy finding a good candle… Roxanne has somehow managed to perfect the art of candle making in a way even big name brands can’t achieve.
I’m very sensitive to fragrances and find it hard to find candles that actually omit a nice smell when it burns. If I fall in love with how it smells at the store, I hardly ever smell it when it’s lit. I also don’t like things that smell fake or manufactured…
Roxanne’s candles burn beautifully, no wax wasted. They make the whole room fragrant, but not to the point you can’t breathe. And when she says her candle is scented tulip, it smells like your nose is right in the flower – there’s no fake scents with her (trust me!)
She is offering pink tulip, pink watermelon and pink sugar in her Mother’s Day batch! I like to customize them a little and add a crafty ribbon or twig of greenery!
Also, who knew wick trimmers were a thing?? It’s definitely one of those things I need that I didn’t know I needed!
4oz Candle • $6 each (but do you really want to buy just one???)
Wick Trimmer • $10
Delivery • Complimentary in West Toronto for orders of $30 or more
Pick-Up • From her studio in Mississauga
